How to convert CD to FLAC
To convert CD audio to FLAC (Free Lossless Audio Codec) on Mac, Windows:
- Launch AuI ConverteR 48x44 Free.
- Push Open files button and choose track (*.aiff or *.cda) at CD-audio disk.
- Select FLAC format, bit depth and sample rate into main window of the software.

What is the best FLAC ripper?
CD audio data contains binary audio data. These data are recorded to optical disk from original compiter file(s).
Main aim of CD ripper is obtaining of the original file content. FLAC store the ripped data without losses.
Thus the best FLAC ripper should provide minimal difference between the original and the ripped files.
In ideal there should be no difference.

CD-audio content is specially coded, to be able to detect errors and recover damaged information. Decoding, error detection and recoverings is performed inside optical drive.
Optical drive can mark detected error places of data (C2 flags). As far as author know, there are may be different implementations.
Reading information in computer from optical may be provided at different levels. Safe rippers have access to low level, where C2 flags are available.
CD rippers may be estimated together with CD-drive and test disk only.

Sound quality issues
FLAC ripping without rersampling demands only reading error minimization. Fortunatelly, audible errors are rare enough.
If the file is resampled during ripping, there are artefacts may be caused. It is resampler quality issue, that CD ripper use.
Somebody prefer uncompressed FLAC. Because they suppose, that compressed FLAC have worse sound. But author don't know about reliable evidences. Read details here >
